Dear Student and Families,

I am pleased to share the process for the retrieval of student belongings from your child’s locker.  Your child In Grade 7 and 8 will be invited to retrieve their belongings from their locker at a specified time on June 15th, 2020 based on the first initial of your last name!

(We are asking that the student comes in on their own for less people in the school, unless 1 parent is absolutely NEEDED).   Any items that are not able to be sorted or all unclaimed items will be donated and/or discarded in July.

Lockers will be pre-opened for the students so that there is less touching, and they can come and go quickly! (Locks will be in their locker for them to take).

Please find information below which outlines the health and safety practices that must be followed as you and your child enter the school to retrieve belongings from lockers.

Before Coming to the School Site:

Before coming to the school it is imperative that the parent/guardian and child complete the Region of Waterloo Public Health COVID-19 Self-Assessment and be free of COVID-19 symptoms not have been in close contact with any individual diagnosed with COVID-19 or exhibiting potential COVID-19 symptoms

If the self-assessment indicates recommendations for care/isolation, and/or the conditions a) or b) are not met, do not come to the school/site.

You will be given a designated date and time to arrive at the school. Please only arrive at your designated date and time. The WRDSB has an obligation to follow social gathering requirements set out by the Government of Ontario as well as the critical physical (social) distancing criteria outside and inside the facility at all times.

Parking:

If you are driving, Please park your vehicle in the parking lot and allow at least 2 metres (6.5 feet) of distance between your vehicle and any other vehicle(s) that may be present.

Please do not bring in any additional items. A collection kit will be provided. This consists of checking in at the front door, using gloves, and also getting a clear plastic bag for locker items.  (DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN BAG or KNAPSACK- they cannot enter our building).

Entering the School:

Please line up outside the FRONT entry doors according to the physical distancing markers (pylons).

A member of our staff will be at the entrance door to review Health and Safety information and provide you with information for how to move through the school site to your locker. Students should only be going to their locker, or dropping off library books in our book bin, or returning borrowed instruments.  There will be a safe location to collect those items.  WE WILL NOT BE COLLECTING CHROMEBOOKS THAT HAVE BEEN BORROWED.  More information will come about technology after the summer.

There is a video on the board website of how to put gloves on and how to take them off properly.

Students are encouraged to bring and wear masks or appropriate face coverings. Please note, masks will not be provided by the WRDSB.

Travelling through the School:

Please travel directly to your locker.   No other areas of the school will be open to students. As you travel through the school, reminder signs will be posted regarding social (physical) distancing and hygiene practices. Please ensure that you are practicing social (physical) distance at all times – ensuring you maintain a 2 metre (6.5 feet) physical distance between you and others at all times.

Exiting the School:

Once done, please follow the directions to travel to the designated exit doors.  Staff will be there to support this. Please remember to ensure that you are practicing social (physical) distance at all times – ensuring you maintain a 2 metre (6.5 feet) physical distance between you. Please promptly leave school property to allow for others to come and retrieve their personal belongings.

Important Notes:

Your child is encouraged to use this opportunity to return any school property, i.e., library books, text books, musical instruments, etc.  Please note: for all returning students, all school technology may remain with the family through the summer.  Students who are not returning to the WRDSB in September, we ask that you return your chromebook.  Yearbooks will be picked up in September.

IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, Only one (1) parent or guardian must accompany the student into the school.

School washrooms and water fountains will be closed.

School Offices and classrooms will be closed.

If you or your child is feeling ill in any way, please do not come to the school.  Contact the Administrator to make alternative arrangements.
