January 3rd, 2016
Happy New Year Gators. We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday. We are excited to get started with our new calendar year. Here are a few reminders to help us get off to a good start.
Please review the post made before the holiday regarding Food Sales at Stanley. These sales will start Friday January 8, 2016. All food sales are supplementary and should not take the place of regular nutrition that students bring with them each day.
Report Card envelopes from Progress Reports are still needed for many students. Please have your Gator bring it to the homeroom teacher asap. Teachers are still open to conversations about student progress.
Term 1 Reports will go home February 19, 2016.
High School Course selections begin the week of February 19 as well. Teacher recommendations will be made available for students and parents closer to that time and the ultimate choice is up to you. Please pay attention to dates for high school information evenings (posted earlier on this website). Reminders to follow.
The Skating Rink is not operated by Stanley Park School. We ask students to stay off the surface during the school day. We also ask that students go home after school and drop off their school bag before returning to the rink if they are wishing to use it for recreational purposes. The rink is not supervised by WRDSB staff.
Weather permitting our Ski Club starts this Thursday January 7, 2016. Sign up happened prior to the holiday. Please direct questions to Mr. D. Cavanagh.
Information about year end excursions will be provided this week. Thanks for your patience as we work through planning that usually takes 10 months in advance of these events. We feel we have a great plan moving forward and will release details this week.
Our new CYW, Lori Parsons, starts this Tuesday January 5 at Stanley Park while Kate Finnie is off to have her baby. Brent Johnston, our SERT, is returning this week and we thank Mel Hankins for the great job she did in Mr. Johnston’s absence.
Winter is upon us and we remind all students that they will need to dress accordingly as they will continue to go outside for nutrition breaks (unless it is determined to be too cold – announced daily according to the U of W weather website).
All schools in the WRDSB are moving to School Day by September 2016. Our implementation date is the month of January. Stay tuned and we will provide further details as they are available.
Grad Photos are January 19. More information to come.
School Council this month is this Wednesday January 6 at 7:00 in the library.
January 29 is a PD Day and there will be no school for students.
