GAR stands for Government Assisted Refugee.  We are pleased to share with you that we have had the addition of two new students at Stanley Park.  One in our Development Disability Classroom and one in grade 8.  Our ESL teacher and whole staff have worked hard to make this difficult transition for our new students as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

I am proud that our Gators have welcomed our new students with open minds and arms.  Neither student speak English but they communicate their excitement and pleasure regarding being with us through their tremendous smiles and willingness to engage.

Each class will be exposed to a small electronic presentation to help the understand what being a refugee means, and how important it is for every student to feel safe and welcomed in Canada.  Gators you have made us proud.

Welcome new Canadians – new Gators.
