Our BYOD is clear for most students and their families. A few reminders that students know well include no pictures or videos taken or posted or shared from school.
There is a new app called Musical.ly that allows the user to create music videos by lip synching or just editing. It has editing tools like the ability to go in slow motion or backwards. The video is then posted on that app as well as Instagram, Vine etc. There are themed contests that the user can enter and submit their video.
The fact that kids are submitting public videos of themselves, similar to what they might be able to do on Instagram, Vine, SnapChat, FB, etc continues to be a safety concern from our perspective. We ask that students and parents post with caution and know that their binary tattoo is permanent.
Photos and videos are not allowed to be taken at school and will be addressed if brought to our attention, or are posted digitally. We are proud of the development of great digital citizenship in the majority of our Gators. Our continued partnership in our ongoing education around social media is appreciated.
