We are starting a BYOD Free Week Monday December 1, 2015.  Students will put their device in the knapsack to come into the school at 8:30, put their devices in their lockers and they will remain there until 3:00.  Devices may be used once students have stepped outside of the school at 3:00. If a staff member sees a device they will ask for it and label it and take it to the office to be collected by the student at 3:00.

Although we love our devices, and we are very committed to teaching responsible use of digital devices we are finding that these devices are not necessarily being used for learning, as we had hoped.  We will re-visit our policy and expectations before returning to our BYOD Policy at Stanley.

Thanks for your ongoing support in helping our students to understand the difference between using their devices for social purposes or as a learning tool.  We are having a Digital Citizenship Presentation in January to continue to try to educate our students on responsible use as well.

Stay tuned for when we will return to our BYOD.
